Today is the day of the Irish, St. Patrick's Day, a day where any tenuous Irish connection is taken as worthy excuse to commemorate the patron saint of Ireland, Mr Paddy.
But March 17th's joyous festivities aren't limited to those with an Irish granny. Today everyone will be wearing green t-shirts and ludicrously over-sized hats, telling leprechauns to 'feck off' and eating shamrocks.
But you can't enjoy St. Paddy's without drinking Guinness, which is surely a contradiction in terms. No one can seriously enjoy drinking tar. My preferred tipple is the fine Irish ale Caffrey's. That at least you can see into. Guinness is pie in a pint glass, so make sure you've not eaten before you venture into the dark stuff.
So in my best thick and highly plausible Irish accent, take care m'lovelies, and yous der 'av a 'appy Irish day so ya will.
