Here's a dodgy 'ickle secret of mine: I use big words all the time such as 'fringepod', 'suzerain' and 'willy' but have no idea what they actually mean. This has the benefit of making me appear articulate and intelligent, whereas in actual fact I've no idea what's coming out of my brain. Some people call this a "stream of consciousness" — I call this "blagging it".

How do I achieve such sly deception? I use a brilliant little program called WordWeb which allows me to select a word whilst I'm writing and check it against this amazing thesaurus-cum-dictionary program. I love it — I don't know how I wrote without it. I highly recommend that everyone runs off and buys the latest version as it kicks bottom.
