Has anybody seen ITV lately? I know — it's a long shot. For folk outside the realm of the United Kingdom, I will explain.
ITV is an independent television channel and is well known for being a bit crap. Soap operas about 'life up north', gameshows where the contestents can win millions of moolah by using the fewest brain cells possible and the ITN News, fronted by the not-altogether-with-it Sir Trevor McDonald.
Only recently, The ITV Evening News Sometime After Ten has been desperate to boost ratings, and its latest endeavor is an attempt to bring us the latest in swish-whizz-bang technology. They've gone all blue-screen, virtual-set and standy-uppy on us, as the Guardian tells us with bigger and better words.
Personally, I'm quite disconcerted when the newsreader gets up and wanders about whilst newsreading. I can see their legs... surely that's not right? But if ITV ever take the next step and our Trev starts wooing us in various modes of undress, I think I may need counselling.
I'm just waiting for the day when the computer that do the backdrop crash, now that will be an improvement.

yeah i noticed that..i dont like itv anyways but i think Trevor is fairly cool, as long as he's behind a desk, like on the old set.
I still like the bbc's wooden floor and glowing desk. |
